DIY - Recycling Project

Good Morning my friends and a Happy new Week!

How was your weekend? Mine was full of birthday parties and it was really fun!

Today I am honored to have in my blog a great new friend and a wonderful new blogger. Maria from Swanocean blog , a young mother with a passion to create beautiful items. Mostly creations that anyone can craft by recycling too many unused materials.... like the one below...

Have fun!

*******************************************

It is really beautiful to hold in your hands something that would normally be considered as rubbish for the most, and only you could see it as a way to make your life easier and at the same time help the environment by recycling.

Why? But because of a round box of a known snack’s brand, which after it has been eaten I thought to use  for storing up many things from my kitchen ’s drawer…

...όπως θήκες cupcakes!

… like cupcakes cases!

So I used the wrapping paper I had and cut it exactly in the box’s measurements. I glue it with washi tape (or glue if you wish) and it is ready!!!

On the top I glued around a grass green band and it is prettier.

And on the other box I used a light purple band on the top. This box now stores wooden straws for the Greek souvlaki.

DIY - Handmade Birthday Card

{ Guest Post from Eleanna }

Hello my friends!!!

I am really glad to have a great friend and a talented artist in my blog, as a guest blogger. You have already met her a few months ago, but still it is a great feeling to have great persons around. Eleanna shares with us a wonderful tutorial for a cute birthday card and I am really curious to read it. Aren't you?

**********************************

Hello lovely people!

My name is Eleanna aka zdrop for the crafting world! I am an architect and urbanist from Greece.  I love design all scales and I enjoy creating things with my hands. It makes me happier! :)

I also write craft tutorials for Crafttuts+. I speak a lot, I laugh [too] loud, I love swimming, dancing and eating ice-cream!

Yesterday a dear friend of mine had her birthday, so I decided to make her a b-day card! Would you like to see what I made? Well, It is a simple and fun project that can be adapted to different occasions!

You will need:
-some craft paper with different patterns in the color palette of your choice.
-Glue
-Pen
-Waxed thread.
-Lighter
-Scissors
-Awl or any other sharp tool.
-Eraser

First take one of the cards and fold it in half. This will be the base of your card. Now, choose a paper with a different pattern and cut it in half. Fold both strips in a zig zag way. You can also cut a small piece off to create a hole-design. Use the two strips of paper to from a circular flower, gluing them in the center. Now, glue them in front of your card.

Cool! The cover is sorted. You could leave the card like that and write your message inside. I  went for a more fun way. I created a garland to write my message. So if you wish to do the same, first count the letters of your message and cut some triangles from the different papers. Fold the paper first and cut the triangle using both sides of the paper. The upper edge of the triangle should be the folded edge and is the side you will use to hang the triangles from the thread. Write each letter of your message on one triangle. Now glue them on two strings of thread. Measure the needed length for the thread based on the card; it needs to open wide but at the same time the threads should not be hanging while the card is folded. Now you need to create four holes to your card to tie the strings. Place the card on the eraser and pinch it with the awl while folded. Pass the thread through the holes and secure the end by burning it really carefully! There is always the alternative of a small knot.

Ta-dah! Your b-day card is ready! All you need to do is give it to a friend! I had to sent mine, so I hope it will arrive safe....fingers-crossed. I hope you enjoyed the project as much as I did and that you got motivated to try it out! Come on, it will only take you 10 minutes. :)

Thank you for hosting my post Zina!

Just Relax!!!!

Ι am really tired lately and very stressed. You know that feeling, stress and anxious without any obvious reason? That feeling exactly. Too much work at the office, too many things to do at home and at the same time I do try to have quality time with my daughter. Make things that will make her enjoy herself and smile. I know it is really hard to succeed it with such a mood and that many other moms feel  exactly the same, but lately I had too many thoughts in my head that I couldn't do anything right for her. Just being there and do nothing is awful. Not because I do not want, but because I am so tired…so tired…

So yesterday I have decided to change that. I went back home and did nothing, nothing at all. Yeap, my house was a really messy one, with dirty dishes and no food for the next day and many cloths that should be ironed. It was the very first time that I left it as it was and I decided to just sit down and draw with my princess or make small creations and most of all to get dirty. So what? This was the greatest memory I have from this week.

So we stayed at our balcony, we had a glass of cold juice and we spent all the afternoon to look after our plants, to draw sea rocks, to craft small paper ships.

And you know what? I was so relaxed that for the first time I realized how many beautiful small plants we have and what great fun we can have by getting dirty!

I wish you a beautiful day full of smiles and full of dirt!!!!

DIY - Pocket Photo Album

Good Morning my friends!

It is a great day today, since I am honored to have  in my blog an amazing tutorial of a sweet lady and great crafter, Angela by AngelasSweetGarden. A beautiful pocket photo album, full of memories for you or your friend, a sweet and uncommon gift for Valentine’s day.
Hope you will enjoy it…..

*****************************************

There is no better feeling than making by yourself a present for your other half! For this year’s Valentine’s Day, I’ ve decided to make a pocket photo album for my boyfriend, so that he can carry me with him all day long (no selfish at all, right?). I will explain the procedure step by step so that you can try it out too!

MATERIALS

Glossy paper in 2 colors, scissors, glue, thread, photos.

I used blue glossy paper, which I cut in pieces of 10x10 cm, light blue glossy paper, from which I cut out 2 hearts about 4x4 cm and photos 5x5 cm.

HOW TO MAKE THE UNITS

1. Take one of the square pieces in your hand, fold it in half but not all the way down. Just pinch on the side, so that you can mark the middle.

2. Open it, turn it 90° and repeat the first step.

3. Open it again and the square should look like that.

4. Fold one of the sides in the middle, using the marks you made on steps 1 and 2. In this step and the following, you have to fold all the way down, not just pinch.

5. Now fold in the same way the other side.

6 -7. Open it, turn it 90° and repeat steps 4 and 5.

8. Open it and hold it so that you can see the colored side.

9. Take one of the corners and fold it inwards to the center of the square, using again as guidelines the marks made on steps 1 and 2.

10-12. Repeat it for all the corners. Just make sure they apply exactly, without leaving any spaces.

13. Open the square for one more time.

14. Turn it upside down so than you can see the white side. Notice that in every corner you have created one small square.

15. Fold the bottom corner inwards. Make sure the edge is facing the central fold's edge point.

16-18. Repeat it for all the corners.

19. Put the square in your palm and push it gently inwards.

20-21. Make the final folding pushing in the blue corners one by one.

22. In the end, your unit should look like this.

HOW TO CONNECT THE UNITS

23. Take two of them.

24. Unfold one of the corners of the right one.

25. Place it in the right side of the left one.

26. Now that the two corners of the two units are the one inside the other, fold them together inwards.

27. Repeat steps 24-26 to connect all the units.

HOW TO PLACE THE PHOTOS IN THE UNITS

28. Put on by one the corners of the photo in the corners of every unit.

HOW TO FINISH THE POCKET ALBUM

29. After you have placed all the photos, fold the album.

30. Place the thread around the album, allowing it to exceed evenly on both sides.

31. Glue one of the hearts on the front side.

32. Glue the other heart on the back side.

Your album is ready!!!!!!!!!!

I hope you enjoyed it!!!!
