PERFECT LOCATIONS - #4

Following up my post about the most perfect location I've ever had my work exhibited at, a few dream locations are following! Here is one more magical "hotel de charme" (charming hotel) in the Old Town of Rhodes. Hotels de charme are charming little hotels with very few rooms and a lot of attention paid to personal details and atmosphere, that is artful and true to the real nature of a place. In Rhodes most of them are located in the magical alleys and little squares of the Old Town, some with breathtaking views upon the whole Old Town and over to the Turkish coast... like in the case of Hotel Minos: the view from its roof garden lounge cafe is quite simply breathtaking!
I've never lodged here, but I've spent many a relaxing morning or afternoon in the magical roof garden lounge cafe, sipping an iced frappe, listening to the relaxing sounds of soft background music and letting my eyes drink in the amazing beauty of the view reaching over the whole Old Town and over to the harbor and further to the Turkish coast of Anatolia.

Indian Summer and Chestnut Time!

The Indian Summer is coloring leaves in wonderful hues of yellow, orange and red here in the Alps. And it's chestnut time! The valleys of Piedmont are a traditional chestnut-growing area. I have picked some in the woods, where they grow wild, I love them roasted or boiled.

PERFECT LOCATIONS - #2

Following up my post about the most perfect location I've ever had my work exhibited at, a few dream locations are following! The first one is a magical "hotel de charme" (charming hotel) in the Old Town of Rhodes. Would be just perfect to host my jewelry, wouldn't it? Hotels de charme are charming little hotels with very few rooms and a lot of attention paid to personal details and atmosphere, that is artful and true to the real nature of a place. In Rhodes most of them are located in the magical alleys and little squares of the Old Town, some with breathtaking views upon the whole Old Town and over to the Turkish coast.

I've never lodged here, but I had lovely "frappes" (Greek iced coffees) in the magical garden of the hotel, and an unforgettable romantic dinner under Rhodes's magical oriental starry sky with my beloved one :).

New Creation: FOLEGANDROS RING

When I start working on a new ring I usually don't know how the final result is going to be, I just get inspired by the materials and I let them speak to me. As soon as I started working on this ring and I saw the materials meet and create a new "creature" (see the work in progress on my previous post), I knew how I was going to call it... FOLEGANDROS!
Folegandros (Φολέγανδρος) is a tiny Greek island of the Cyclades, still untouched by mass tourism and appreciated by lovers of peaceful and genuine places. My cousin and best friend Sylvia's heart has been deeply touched by this little jewel of only 32 sq. km, and her words about its simple, breathtaking, genuine, moving, somewhat harsh and in a way heartbreaking beauty have inspired this ring.
The hardness of the black jet stone (a petrified wood) is for the harsh beauty of the island, the shimmering copper is for the blazing sun that makes it shimmer in the Aegean Sea, the softness of the simple, untreated wood stands for the genuine and soft, almost naive heart of this little jewel of the Aegean Sea. I hope I could capture the nature of Folegandros with an elegant yet simple ring.
An important detail: when I started working on this ring I had only seen a few aerial views of the island, what guided me was not its actual physical appearance, but so much more the feelings that Sylvia's words conveyed to me. This ring is dedicated to you, my dear Sylvia!
