MEDITERRANEO AGAIN!

... And here is Mediterraneo 11! A new, bright and colorful statement ring, made with a gorgeous piece of Mediterranean beach pottery, collected by me on a beautiful beach on the Italian Riviera. I have painted the original glaze in a vibrant Mediterranean blue and added a dimensional golden spiral.

NEW MEDITERRANEO RING!

There we go! A new ring has joined my Mediterraneo collection! A gorgeous piece of beach pottery, collected by me on a beautiful beach in Rhodes. The original glaze shows an interesting dotted pattern, and I have highlighted it with acrylic paints.

Summer Memories....

It was about time to realize that Summer ended and Autumn is here...a hot one so far, but still Autumn. I love every new season, but most of all I love Summer..what can I say I am from an island...

I am still looking the photos from our vacation on Crete and a sweet melancholy captures me. But at the same time I smile, since it is a great feeling to have such a wonderful memories.

Be happy for the moments we have lived and enjoy the moments that will come....

Samothraki, my favorite summer destination!

{ Guest post from Katerina }

Hello My friends!!!

I am really happy to have my friend Katerina from Divine Decadance as guest blogger today! A really beautiful post that will travel you away!!!!

******************************
Hello!

I'm Katerina and I'm going to give you a little tour to lovely place in Greece, the island of Samothraki!

Samothraki is an island in northern Greece really close to my hometown, Orestiada. Every time I go there, I feel that the place has something magical and divine. Let me share some of its best aspects with you!

Samothraki is not the typical Greek island. It is famous for its natural beauty, and nature lovers from all over the world visit Samothraki every year. Eco tourism flourishes there! The rivers, the healing water sources, the beautiful forests and rocky hills, create a paradise away from the city chaos. The absolute relaxation!

My friends and I prefer camping in Samothraki. It brings out our hippy side and this feels awesome! We feel closer to nature and become a part of it. The wildness of the place wont suit everybody but those of you that like adventure and exploring new places are gonna love it.

The sea is so clean and refreshing and most of the beaches are rocky, except one- Pachia Ammos.

Pachia Ammos

If you ever go to Samothraki, don't miss the famous water baths, called Vathres. They are large cavities on the rocks, that you can swim in them. In order to get there, you have to hike a little path in the forest that requires some effort, but you will be rewarded by the beautiful sight!

Vathres

The Chora is the capital of the island. It is build away from the sea, on the mountain Saos, in order to avoid pirate attacks in the past. Here you can see a beautiful view from a cafe in Chora.

Chora

The surprises don't stop in Samothraki. You can have a little cruise around the island in order to admire every hidden aspect. On the other side of the island, there is a stunning waterfall on the steep rocks that is really breathtaking.

Small Waterfall

The local delicacy is goat meat with rice or potatoes ( I know, not the best option for our vegetarian friends!). You can find really tasty desserts too! Glika tou koutaliou, or ''spoon sweets'' are usually fruit or nuts in thick syrup, that you can eat them alone or add them to your ice cream or yoghurt! Yummy!
I could ramble on and on about Samothraki! Every time I go there, is a new adventure!

I can't wait to visit this lovely island again this summer!!

My beloved town... Agios Nikolaos!!!!

Hello my friends!

At last I have in my hands (or should I say in my pc…) the pictures I took from my home town almost a month ago, when I was on family Easter’s vacation. We were lucky since during that week in my beloved island the weather was almost like Summer, really sunny and really hot!

My home town is not a big one, actually it can be considered as a small one, but it is really beautiful with amazing beaches, unique corners and natural beauty that will definitely be loved. Even though Crete is a big island,  when you are in Agios Nikolaos you can truly realize that you are in an island… every step drives you to the sea and the blue color is all around. Sky ends where sea starts.

One thing that I love in my place is that you can also visit other adorable places near the main town, like Elounda or Plaka. And even though these two villages are really close to Agios Nikolas, they look very different. In Elounda the sea is not deep, you can enjoy the  fresh air full of the smells from the sea and have a drink just next to the beach.

On the other hand Plaka is a short trip to the past. Beautiful houses from stone with Cretan architecture and Spinalonga island just a mile away. If you close your eyes you can “hear” the voices of the people that leaved there….

I love my town, I love the people, my friends are still there. People are simple, with great hospitality and a great sense of humor. Have a cup of coffee with them or a raki and you will definitely feel that you knew them since ever.

When the day ends... the colors are simple amazing! I love to sit and admire them, while I am dreaming and this is exactly the perfect way to think what this day brought and leave behind the problems. A beautiful night is coming and soon a new day.

One of the jokes here in Greece is about Cretans and how much they love their island… I adore it, not just love it. I know that when I am there I laugh, I enjoy life, I meet good friends, I smile without being anxious and I relax by the sea. I live well… Ef Zin :)
