November Birthstone - Citrine !!!!!

Good Morning my beloved Friends!!!

November is here already and we are closer to Christmas... oh I love that period!!! I love the aroma of cookies and all the desserts, the colors of our Cristmas tree, the lights, the smiles... everything!

So, for November there is another amazing birthstone...Citrine!

1.Pendant 2.Sculpture Tree 3.Bracelet 4.Ring

Citrine is a colour, the most common reference for which is certain coloured varieties of quartz which are a medium deep shade of golden yellow. Citrine has been summarized at various times as yellowgreenish-yellow, brownish yellow or orange.

The name comes from the French word citron, meaning lemon. It was used as a gem in Greece as far back as 300 B.C., and because of its color, is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Gold Topaz, Madeira or Spanish Topaz, or Safranite.  "Citrine" is used in the names of birds and other lifeforms with such colouring to describe their appearance, including the Citrine WagtailCitrine WarblerCitrine Canary-flycatcherand Citrine Forktail.

Natural Citrine is a premier stone of manifestation, imagination, and personal will. Carrying the power of the sun, it is warm and comforting, energizing and life giving. It stimulates the chakras like the sunlight of spring, clearing the mind and stirring the soul to action. Is a joyful stone with bright energy which lights up many aspects of lives of those who work with it. It has energies of good fortune and good luck, though these may appear in unexpected ways.

In crystal healing and healing folklore, citrine is said to be beneficial for the digestion, stomach, nightmares, other sleep disturbances, thyroid, general health, heart, kidney, liver, muscles, strength, endocrine system, circulatory system, tissue regeneration, urinary system, immune system, diabetes, fibromyalgia.

DIY - Sea Stone Ring

Good Morning my friends!!

In my last walk by the sea I was lucky enough to find a few cute and very beautiful rocks, possibly from a tile that has been modified from the salty water. So, I collected them and yesterday a few ideas came up in my mind, on how to use them. I will try to post a few tutorials with them.

Let’s start…. Summer is almost here and we may use accessories with more colors or more natural materials. We can create a beautiful, simple ring with one of the rocks and we can create it with the colors we love.

What are we going to need

-      Glue (I use E6000, but any glue for jewelry will be great)
-      Paint brash
-      Ring base (I choose one in silver color)
-      Colors for ceramic

Procedure

I really enjoyed this crafting since I did it with my daughter. Just simple use the colors you love and paint the stone. I wanted to create a ring with the two favorites colors for summer season and in a simple, geometric pattern.

When you finish the paint  just let the stone for a while to dry. And then you are done… just put glow in the ring base and glue the rock. Your ring is ready!

Just to be sure, let the glow for 24h and then your ring will be really stable.

If you want to make it more “bright” or more “flashy”, you may add with white glue glitter or just use transparent varnish.

So…what do you think? A pure natural ring that is really uncommon!

Enjoy!!!! Happy Crafting!!!

VOLCANO

I made a bold, dramatic, eye-catching ring, inspired by fiery Mediterranean colors and atmospheres.
The focal piece is a gorgeous lava stone bead, which I have set on a filigree brass ring base. I have embellished the filigree with copper wire, and the finishing touch is the little hand sculpted red polymer clay flower. A ring that screams Mediterranean, fiesta time and joie de vivre!

NEW RINGS IN THE MAKING!

They will be sea-inspired rings!

I painted a sea-polished ceramic shard in Calypso blue...

And a lovely beach pebble got a marine look with a sea-star on it!

AEGEAN BLUE

The beginning of the summer season is so beautiful here in Rhodes... The beaches are still deserted, and it's so peaceful! The sky is postcard-blue and it's very windy.

This is a lovely artwork I found on yesterday's walk on the beach... A group of friends made this, and they all signed their names on the pebbles which form the frame for the lovely ship. I hope no-one destroys it, it's so sweet and pretty :) If only they knew their artwork has been featured on a blog and their beautiful memory made last forever! :)

LAVA BRACELET

I've always been fascinated by lava beads. Wearing a piece of lava jewelry literally means wearing the core of our Earth.

Lava refers both to molten rock expelled by a volcano during an eruption and the resulting rock after solidification and cooling. This molten rock is formed in the interior of some planets, including Earth, and some of their satellites. When first erupted from a volcanic vent, lava is a liquid at temperatures from 700 °C to 1,200 °C (1,300 °F to 2,200 °F). Up to 100,000 times as viscous as water, lava can flow great distances before cooling and solidifying.
A lava flow is a moving outpouring of lava, which is created during a non-explosive effusive eruption. When it has stopped moving, lava solidifies to form igneous rock. The term lava flow is commonly shortened to lava. The word "lava" comes from Italian, and is probably derived from the Latin word labes which means a fall or slide.

Now I have my own lava bracelet! Made with the gorgeous lava beads I received from Elsa, interspaced with lovely red beads.

New Creation: FOLEGANDROS RING

When I start working on a new ring I usually don't know how the final result is going to be, I just get inspired by the materials and I let them speak to me. As soon as I started working on this ring and I saw the materials meet and create a new "creature" (see the work in progress on my previous post), I knew how I was going to call it... FOLEGANDROS!
Folegandros (Φολέγανδρος) is a tiny Greek island of the Cyclades, still untouched by mass tourism and appreciated by lovers of peaceful and genuine places. My cousin and best friend Sylvia's heart has been deeply touched by this little jewel of only 32 sq. km, and her words about its simple, breathtaking, genuine, moving, somewhat harsh and in a way heartbreaking beauty have inspired this ring.
The hardness of the black jet stone (a petrified wood) is for the harsh beauty of the island, the shimmering copper is for the blazing sun that makes it shimmer in the Aegean Sea, the softness of the simple, untreated wood stands for the genuine and soft, almost naive heart of this little jewel of the Aegean Sea. I hope I could capture the nature of Folegandros with an elegant yet simple ring.
An important detail: when I started working on this ring I had only seen a few aerial views of the island, what guided me was not its actual physical appearance, but so much more the feelings that Sylvia's words conveyed to me. This ring is dedicated to you, my dear Sylvia!

CREATIVE CORNER: a New Creation and a Sweet Kitty!

I've been working with copper sheet, copper wire, wood and jet stone. I love to combine materials, making such different natures meet... the softness of wood, the shimmer of copper, the hardness of stone. This is going to be a ring, inspired by a special island I've never been to yet... but this is still a surprise :)!

During today's photo session on my mom's windowsill (my favorite background for taking pictures of my jewelry, I love the look and feel of natural stone!) a special guest star joined me... maybe she thinks she's jewelry too :)! This is Lilli, my mom's 2-year-old kitty, she's a sweetheart! This lovely beauty was born with a little genetic problem, she cannot open her left eye completely, but she's a beauty all the same... and such a sweet little bijou!
